Yang Zelong and Han Wenqian have been charged in connection with a scheme to produce counterfeit Singapore currency notes, according to law enforcement officials. The two were apprehended at Marina Bay Sands, one of the city-state's premier hospitality venues.

The pair is accused of conspiring to counterfeit in excess of 100 notes in the $100 denomination. Investigations indicate the alleged criminal activity took place between August 20 and 24, spanning a concentrated five-day window.

Counterfeiting currency remains a serious offence under Singapore law, carrying stringent penalties designed to protect the integrity of the monetary system. The Monetary Authority of Singapore and law enforcement agencies work closely to detect and prevent such activities.

The cases have been referred to the relevant courts for further proceedings. Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the investigation or the methods allegedly employed in the counterfeiting operation.
