Two arrested with 11 kg cannabis at Jolarpet railway station

A police team conducting searches at Jolarpet railway station apprehended two commuters travelling on the Shalimar-Trivandrum Central Super-Fast Express on charges of narcotics smuggling. During a routine baggage inspection, officers discovered approximately 11 kilograms of ganja concealed in the passengers' luggage, authorities said.

The contraband, packed in multiple bundles, was recovered during the operation at the station. Both suspects were taken into custody and charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The seizure adds to a growing list of drug interceptions on Indian railway routes, where enforcement agencies have intensified checks to combat trafficking. Railway police have been conducting heightened surveillance across major transit corridors, particularly on long-distance express trains that traverse multiple states.
