Two arrested with 690kg of kratom in vehicle operation

Two men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of 690 kilograms of kratom leaves from a vehicle, according to police. The suspects are believed to have been operating as distributors supplying kratom to the local market. The operation resulted in the recovery of a substantial quantity of the botanical product, which has seen increased scrutiny from authorities in recent years. The arrested individuals are currently assisting police with investigations into the distribution network. Kratom, derived from the leaves of Mitragyna speciosa tree native to Southeast Asia, remains subject to regulatory oversight in Malaysia due to concerns over its psychoactive properties and potential for abuse.
