The two constables, stationed with the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Bihar, were taken into custody following the emergence of video footage that documented their alleged attempt to misappropriate liquor seized during a train operation. The video, recorded by a passenger on board, captured the officers confiscating 36 bottles of alcohol packed across four bags from the train.
According to the incident details, the constables were caught attempting to retain the seized consignment for personal use or sale rather than following proper confiscation procedures. The passenger who witnessed the incident recorded the transaction and subsequently released the footage, prompting railway authorities and police officials to initiate an investigation.
The video evidence proved instrumental in establishing the charges against the officers. Railway authorities have confirmed that the constables acted in violation of protocol governing the handling of contraband items seized during routine inspections on trains.
The arrests mark another instance of alleged corruption within railway police operations. The case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of involvement and whether other officers were complicit in the attempted misappropriation.
