LEGAZPI CITY — Two jail facilities in Camarines Norte are set to benefit from enhanced water infrastructure under a collaborative government program designed to ensure safer drinking water for inmates and staff.

The initiative, known as Project Aqua, will operate over three years and deliver water treatment systems, drinking water stations, and backup generators to correctional facilities in the province. The intervention targets improved sanitation and health conditions for persons deprived of liberty and jail personnel.

The water treatment infrastructure is expected to address longstanding concerns about water quality and accessibility in detention facilities. Such improvements are considered critical for maintaining hygiene standards and preventing waterborne diseases in confined settings where populations are concentrated.

Details regarding the specific facilities receiving the upgrades and the timeline for installation remain under coordination with relevant government agencies overseeing the project implementation.
