Two hospitalised for smoke inhalation after Queenstown flat fire

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to reports of a fire at a residential block in the Queenstown estate in the early afternoon. The fire, which originated from items stored outside a unit on the 10th floor, was extinguished using a water jet.

Two residents were conveyed to hospital as a precautionary measure after experiencing smoke inhalation. A total of 25 residents from the affected block were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure during the incident.

The SCDF secured the scene and ensured no further spread of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Residents were allowed to return to their units following clearance by emergency responders.

The incident highlights the importance of keeping common areas clear of clutter and stored items, which can pose fire hazards in high-rise residential buildings.
