Two hurt in Basilan motorcycle drive-by shooting

LAMITAN CITY, Basilan — Two men were wounded in a drive-by shooting incident in this city Friday night, with police saying the attack appeared to be a targeted assault that struck an unintended victim.
Effren Salahuddin Custodio, a resident of Barangay Maganda, was hit in the leg around 7:20 p.m. while in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Matibay. Another man was injured by stray gunfire during the same incident, according to initial police reports.
Investigators said unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle approached the area and discharged firearms at their intended target. The attack left at least one bystander caught in the crossfire.
Police have launched an investigation into the shooting and are working to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the attack. Officials urged witnesses to come forward with information that could aid the investigation.
