Two senior civil service officers working in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, have announced their engagement, marking the culmination of a professional relationship that blossomed into romance. Rahul Mishra, District Basic Education Officer, and Akanksha Bajpayee, District Employment Officer, exchanged vows in a modest ceremony held in Chitrakoot.
The two officials, stationed just 200 metres apart in their respective offices, developed their bond through their administrative duties in the district. Their engagement represents an increasingly common phenomenon in India's bureaucracy, where shared professional environments and similar career trajectories often bring civil servants together.
The couple has planned their wedding for November 30 in Khajuraho, a town approximately 65 kilometres from Mahoba. The choice of venue holds cultural significance, given Khajuraho's prominence as a historical and tourist destination in central India.
Both officers hold positions in the state administration, with Mishra overseeing primary education initiatives and Bajpayee handling employment and labour-related matters in their district. Their union reflects the growing visibility of professional partnerships among India's administrative cadre.
