Authorities responded to two distinct reports on Friday involving abandoned infants discovered in Bangsar and Kepong. In the first incident, police received a call regarding a deceased newborn located at a dumping ground in Bangsar. Officers secured the scene and initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding the infant's death.
Separately, residents at an apartment block in Kepong alerted authorities after discovering a live infant abandoned in a cardboard box on the premises. The child was immediately taken into care and assessed by medical personnel, who confirmed the infant was in healthy condition.
Police have launched parallel investigations into both cases. Authorities are appealing for information from the public that may assist in identifying the parents or guardians of both infants. The Royal Malaysian Police have pledged to treat the matters with urgency and sensitivity.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about child abandonment in urban areas of Malaysia. Welfare agencies have reiterated that parents facing financial difficulties or personal crises are encouraged to seek support through official channels rather than resort to abandonment.
