Two Leyte schools cancel classes after online shooting threats
Two public high schools in Calubian, Leyte suspended Monday classes following reports of shooting threats circulated on social media. The precautionary measure affects more than 800 students across both institutions.

Calubian National High School and Felix Caneja Lafuente National High School issued separate advisories after school administrators received reports of threats posted online. The schools did not immediately provide details on the nature of the threats or the accounts from which they originated.
The decision to suspend classes came as the schools coordinated with local authorities to assess the credibility of the online posts. Education officials said the move prioritized student and staff safety pending completion of the threat assessment.
The incident reflects growing concerns over school security in the Philippines, where social media has increasingly become a platform for circulating threats. Local police units in Calubian were notified of the situation and said they were investigating the matter.
School officials said they would issue further updates on the status of classes as the investigation progressed. Parents were advised to monitor official school communications for announcements regarding the resumption of regular class schedules.
