Two men arrested in Batangas City illegal fuel trading operation

LUCENA CITY — Law enforcement authorities apprehended two men allegedly involved in illegal fuel trading during an anti-smuggling operation in Batangas City, the Philippine National Police reported Saturday.

The Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A) said the Batangas police intelligence unit launched the operation after receiving information from a concerned citizen about unauthorized petroleum product transfers in the area.

The suspects were arrested during the Friday, November 6 operation. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the extent of the illegal fuel trading network and identify other individuals potentially involved in the scheme.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by regional police to combat illegal fuel trading, which undermines government revenue and poses serious environmental and public safety risks. PRO-4A has urged the public to report suspected illegal fuel operations to their nearest police station.
