LUCENA CITY — Police in Quezon province are investigating two separate fatal road accidents that occurred along the Maharlika Highway, claiming two motorists' lives within a day.

The first incident happened Thursday evening in Sariaya town when a 25-year-old motorcycle rider collided with a parked dump truck in Barangay Sto. Cristo around 11 p.m. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A second fatal accident followed Friday along the same highway corridor, though details of the second incident remained limited. Both crashes occurred in the same municipality, raising concerns about road safety conditions on the major provincial thoroughfare.

The Maharlika Highway, a critical transportation artery connecting communities across Quezon, has been the site of numerous accidents in recent years. Local authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, particularly during evening hours when visibility is reduced.

Investigations into both accidents are ongoing. Police have not yet released additional details regarding the second fatality or whether other vehicles or persons were involved.
