Two rescued from sinking fishing vessel near Palawan

Two fishermen were pulled to safety after their vessel began sinking in waters near Wedge Island, located off San Vicente municipality in Palawan province. The Philippine Coast Guard received reports of the partially submerged fishing boat and immediately mobilized rescue teams to the area.

Personnel from Coast Guard Sub-Station San Vicente responded swiftly to the distress call, coordinating with the San Vicente municipal disaster risk reduction and management office to conduct the search and rescue operation. The combined effort proved successful, with both occupants of the vessel extracted from the water.

The incident underscores ongoing maritime safety concerns in Philippine waters, particularly in regions prone to unpredictable weather conditions. The Philippine Coast Guard continues to monitor local waters and urges fishermen to exercise caution and maintain proper safety protocols when venturing out to sea.
