Two self-styled godmen arrested for defrauding woman of ₹69 lakh

The Chembur police registered a case against the two accused after the victim approached them with complaints of financial fraud. According to the police, the men exploited the victim's vulnerability by making unfounded claims about their supernatural healing abilities.

The accused allegedly convinced the woman that they possessed special powers to treat her sister's cancer through religious rituals and spiritual interventions. Over an extended period, they extracted substantial sums from the victim under the guise of performing various ceremonies and purchasing religious artifacts.

The investigation revealed a calculated scheme in which the accused leveraged the victim's desperation and emotional distress to perpetrate the fraud. The police have launched a detailed probe to determine if other victims were similarly deceived by the two men.

The case underscores the persistent threat posed by fraudulent godmen who exploit people's faith and medical vulnerabilities. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution and approach medical decisions through qualified healthcare professionals rather than relying on unverified spiritual practitioners.
