Two Singapore-registered vessels collide in Hormuz Strait; no injuries

Two Singapore-registered ships collided in the Hormuz Strait, the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) said on Tuesday. The incident occurred in one of the world's most critical shipping lanes, through which a significant portion of global oil trade passes.

According to MPA, no crew members were injured in the collision. The authority also noted that no Singaporean nationals were aboard either vessel at the time of the incident.

The Hormuz Strait, located between Iran and Oman, sees hundreds of merchant vessels transit through its waters daily. Maritime incidents in the region have drawn international attention in recent years due to the strategic importance of the waterway to global energy supplies.

The MPA did not immediately provide additional details regarding the circumstances of the collision, the identity of the vessels, or the extent of any damage sustained. Further investigation into the incident is expected to follow.
