The two men were apprehended in Thailand following an investigation into a cross-border vice syndicate, according to the Singapore Police Force. Authorities allege the suspects orchestrated the recruitment and transportation of foreign nationals to Singapore, where the victims were forced into sex work.
The investigation, which involved coordination between Singapore and Thai law enforcement agencies, uncovered the syndicate's operations spanning multiple countries in the region. The suspects' network allegedly targeted vulnerable women from neighbouring countries, exploiting them through debt bondage and coercion.
The Singapore Police Force said the arrested men face charges related to human trafficking and vice-related offences. Both individuals remain in Thai custody pending further legal proceedings. The SPF has indicated that investigations are ongoing to identify additional network members and rescue potential victims.
The case highlights persistent human trafficking concerns in Southeast Asia. Regional governments have intensified cooperation to combat transnational crime networks, with Singapore and Thailand regularly coordinating on law enforcement operations targeting organised vice operations.
