KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Two men suspected of stealing cables were arrested after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a drain during a police chase in Ampang on Thursday.
Police initiated the pursuit after identifying the suspects as part of an ongoing investigation into cable theft incidents in the area. As officers closed in on the vehicle, the driver attempted to evade capture but lost control of the car, which subsequently left the road and ended up in a drainage channel.
Both occupants were extracted from the vehicle and taken into custody by responding police officers. They are currently assisting authorities with investigations into their alleged involvement in cable theft operations.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding cable theft in the Klang Valley region, which has become an increasingly prevalent problem affecting telecommunications and electrical infrastructure.
