MANILA — Two suspected fixers were arrested by Highway Patrol Group (HPG) officers stationed at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) central office following an incident of disorderly conduct, the agency announced Saturday.
The men were taken into custody after they became unruly when LTO staff refused to allow them to proceed with their intended transactions involving license plate changes, according to the LTO statement.
The arrests underscore ongoing efforts by authorities to crack down on fixers operating within government offices. These intermediaries typically facilitate transactions outside normal procedures, often for a fee, and their presence at the LTO has long been a concern for transport officials.
The LTO did not immediately disclose the identities of the arrested individuals or provide details on the specific charges they would face. The case remains under investigation by HPG personnel assigned to the agency.
