MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — Two men were killed in an exchange of gunfire between police and armed suspects during a warrant implementation operation here late Saturday, authorities said.

Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PROBAR), said the firefight erupted as officers attempted to serve a warrant on the suspects in the city.

Following the gunfight, a six-month-old infant subsequently died after a grenade allegedly left behind by one of the fleeing suspects detonated, Salanguit added. The circumstances surrounding the child's exposure to the explosive device remained unclear as of Sunday.
