The fire erupted in the early hours of Wednesday in a residential area of Sitiawan, rapidly spreading between two double-storey properties before crews could contain it. The two sisters, whose identities have not been released, were trapped inside one of the homes when the flames engulfed the structure. Rescue efforts by the Perak Fire and Rescue Department located their bodies after extinguishing the fire.

In addition to the fatalities, the inferno completely destroyed both adjoining houses and damaged several vehicles parked nearby. Firefighters worked through the morning to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring properties. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The incident marks another tragic loss in the region and has prompted fresh concerns about fire safety in residential areas. Local authorities have urged residents to ensure smoke detectors are functional and to maintain clear emergency evacuation routes in their homes.
