Two women killed after being struck by train in Kalutara
Two women have died after being hit by a train at Kalutara South Railway Station on the South Western Line. The incident occurred as the women arrived at the station to board a service to Anuradhapura.

The victims, aged 58 and 53, were residents of Horawala and Udawela in the Matugama area, according to Kalutara South Police. The fatal accident took place as the women approached the platform at Kalutara South Railway Station.
Police at the station confirmed the identities of the deceased and initiated preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The train service to Anuradhapura, which the women had intended to board, was affected by the accident.
The incident marks another railway fatality on Sri Lanka's rail network. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the exact cause of the accident or the sequence of events that led to the women being struck by the train.
