Two workers killed in Subic Freeport landslide during heavy rains

Two workers were killed and two others injured when a landslide struck Tipo High-Tech Park in Subic Bay Freeport, Zambales on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred as the area experienced continuous heavy rainfall, which authorities believe triggered the ground collapse.
According to preliminary reports from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Law Enforcement Department, one of the fatalities was identified as Peng Jiahan, a 26-year-old Chinese national. Details regarding the second victim and the two injured workers were still being compiled as rescue and investigation operations continued.
The Tipo High-Tech Park, located within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, is home to numerous manufacturing and technology companies. Landslides in the region are not uncommon during the monsoon season, when persistent rainfall saturates soil conditions and increases the risk of ground instability.
The SBMA has not yet issued statements regarding potential safety reviews or preventive measures at the facility. Emergency responders secured the affected area as investigations into the exact cause of the landslide proceeded.
