Two-year fugitive in drug case arrested in Himachal Pradesh

Authorities in Himachal Pradesh have arrested a fugitive wanted in connection with a drug trafficking case after evading law enforcement for two years. The accused was apprehended in the Kullu district of the hill state following an intensive manhunt.

The suspect had been absconding since June 2024, when police seized 316 grams of suspected MDMA and 420 grams of suspected ganja from a vehicle at Athani. A case was registered against him following the seizure, but he managed to evade arrest and went underground.

Police officials said the accused's arrest marks a significant breakthrough in their ongoing investigations into drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The apprehension comes after sustained efforts by law enforcement agencies to track down the fugitive across multiple states.

The arrested individual has been taken into custody for further questioning and interrogation. Authorities are examining his connections to larger drug smuggling operations and whether he was part of an organised racket. Additional investigations are underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the contraband seized in the earlier operation.
