Typhoon Choi-wan's outer bands to drench Visayas, Mindanao
The Philippine weather bureau warned of scattered rains and thunderstorms across parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday as the trough of Typhoon Choi-wan extends into the region. The storm system, which remains outside Philippine territory, is expected to bring unsettled conditions to western areas.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued the weather advisory for October 4, citing the extension of Typhoon Choi-wan's influence across the country's central and southern regions.
Weather forecasters identified Western Visayas as among the areas expected to experience the heaviest impacts from the typhoon's trough. Scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated throughout the day as moisture-laden winds associated with the distant storm system move across the archipelago.
Pagesa noted that Typhoon Choi-wan remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but its atmospheric circulation is sufficient to trigger localized convective activity across vulnerable regions. Residents in affected areas have been advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions against potential flooding in low-lying areas.
The agency did not report any immediate threats to coastal areas from storm surge or strong winds associated with the weather system at this time.
