Typhoon Rosal keeps Signal No. 2 hoisted over Batanes, Babuyan Islands

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) kept tropical cyclone warning signals elevated over the northern Philippines Thursday morning as the powerful storm system moved away from the archipelago.

Super Typhoon Rosal, known internationally as Champi, maintained its northwestward path over the Philippine Sea while retaining dangerous strength. Pagasa's latest bulletin confirmed that Signal No. 2 remained in effect for Batanes province and the Babuyan Islands, indicating that hazardous weather conditions persisted in these areas.

The warning system, which uses numerical signals to indicate typhoon threat levels, guides residents and authorities in implementing appropriate safety measures. Signal No. 2 signals the possibility of strong winds and rough seas that could impact coastal and exposed areas.

Meteorology officials continued monitoring Rosal's progress as it tracked away from Philippine territory. Residents in affected northern regions were advised to remain vigilant and follow all weather advisories and local government directives as the typhoon's outer bands influenced conditions in the region.
