Typhoon Rosal weakening as forward movement slows significantly

Typhoon Rosal has begun to lose momentum, with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) predicting continued deterioration of the storm system through the weekend.

According to Pagasa's evening weather advisory issued Friday, the typhoon's forward speed has decreased significantly from 25 kilometers per hour, marking a notable slowdown in its progression across Philippine waters.

Pagesa meteorologist John Manalo indicated that the weakening trend is expected to persist, with projections showing Rosal downgrading to severe tropical storm status by Saturday, October 24. The gradual loss of intensity comes as the system loses forward momentum.

The slowdown in Rosal's movement may provide some relief to affected areas, though residents and local disaster management officials are advised to continue monitoring official weather updates from Pagasa as the system evolves over the coming days.
