Typhoon Rosal (international designation: Champi) showed signs of weakening as it tracked away from Philippine territory on Friday morning, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The weather bureau's latest advisory placed Rosal approximately 305 kilometers northeast of Itbayat in Batanes province, marking continued progression away from the archipelago. Despite the system's diminishing strength, authorities maintained Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, indicating the region remained vulnerable to strong winds and rough seas.
The weakening trajectory suggests the storm's threat to Philippine communities will continue to diminish as it moves further into the open Pacific. Weather officials advised residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and monitor further bulletins for updates on the typhoon's movement and any changes to current weather signals.
