Typhoon Samuel to briefly traverse Philippine waters Monday to Tuesday

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported Sunday evening that Typhoon Cempaka will enter the Philippine area of responsibility early Monday morning. Upon crossing into Philippine waters, the weather system will be assigned the local designation Samuel, in accordance with the country's typhoon naming protocol.

According to the meteorological agency's 11 p.m. advisory, Samuel is not expected to directly affect the Philippines' weather patterns during its brief passage through Philippine territory. The typhoon is forecast to move swiftly across the region, with an anticipated exit from the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday.

The agency said it would continue monitoring the system's movement and issue regular updates as Samuel transits the Philippine area. Residents and local government units are advised to maintain preparedness protocols, though significant weather disruptions are not anticipated from this particular system.
