The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned that Typhoon Saudel would amplify the effects of the southwest monsoon, or habagat, when it crosses into Philippine territory on Monday, August 24. The forecast was issued in Pagasa's 5 a.m. bulletin on Sunday by weather specialist Obet Badrina.

Currently positioned outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, Typhoon Saudel is tracking toward the archipelago with potential to interact with the existing habagat system. The combination of the tropical cyclone and the seasonal monsoon could bring significant weather impacts across affected regions.

Meteorocasters are closely monitoring Saudel's path and intensity as it approaches Philippine waters. Residents in areas under the influence of the habagat are advised to prepare for potential heavy rainfall and gusty winds as the typhoon strengthens the monsoon circulation.
