UAE-India non-oil trade surges 50% in three years, minister says

Non-oil trade between India and the UAE has grown by 50 per cent over the past three years, according to a senior Emirati government official. The minister attributed the substantial increase to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect in February 2022, strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.

The trade pact has facilitated deeper commercial integration across multiple sectors, enhancing the flow of goods and services between the countries. The agreement reduced tariffs on numerous products and streamlined customs procedures, making bilateral commerce more competitive and accessible for businesses on both sides.

The minister's remarks underscore the growing economic partnership between India and the UAE, which has emerged as one of the most robust trading relationships in the region. The CEPA framework has provided a formal mechanism for addressing trade barriers and creating new opportunities for investment and business expansion.

The steady growth in non-oil trade reflects both the complementary nature of the two economies and the effectiveness of policy measures adopted under the partnership agreement. Officials from both nations have indicated their commitment to further enhancing bilateral ties across trade, investment, and strategic sectors.
