The complaint centres on allegations that Infantino pursued a financial arrangement that would have transferred a portion of forthcoming World Cup revenues to private entities—a proposal that ultimately did not materialize. European football officials contend the initiative represents a breach of fiduciary responsibility and improper stewardship of FIFA's assets.
The move marks an escalation in ongoing tensions between FIFA's leadership and continental confederations over governance and financial transparency. Swiss courts will now examine whether grounds exist to proceed with formal charges against the FIFA chief.
Infantino, who has led FIFA since 2016, has faced periodic scrutiny from member associations regarding organizational decisions.
