KUANTAN — A varsity student from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) died on Thursday after participating in an endurance challenge at the institution's campus in Jengka, with eight other participants requiring hospital treatment for health-related complications.
Emergency services were called to the Jengka campus after participants began experiencing medical distress during the event. The deceased student was pronounced dead following the incident, while the eight hospitalised participants were transferred to medical facilities in the area for further assessment and treatment.
The incident has raised questions about the safety protocols and medical supervision in place during high-intensity physical activities organised by the university. Authorities have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the endurance challenge and the factors that led to the fatalities and hospitalisations.
