UK condemns masked protesters blocking Dover port over immigration

Several dozen protesters wearing black clothing and face coverings blocked roads leading to the Port of Dover on Saturday morning, disrupting vehicle and cargo movement to France. The Port of Dover confirmed that all traffic in and out had been "stopped due to an ongoing public order incident," while police stated they were "engaging with the protesters."

Social media footage showed demonstrators linking arms across a main road while chanting "stop the boats," a reference to the government's controversial immigration policies. Chris Vinson, a Conservative Party local councillor, identified the protest as "illegal migration-related," noting that while no violence had been reported, the appearance of masked figures in paramilitary-style gear was "extremely intimidating."

The UK government swiftly condemned the action, asserting that it constituted a breach of acceptable protest conduct. The demonstration highlighted growing tensions within Britain over immigration policy, with activists employing disruptive tactics to draw attention to their concerns about boat arrivals in the English Channel.
