UMNO, PAS leaders reject Ramasamy's claims over BN-PAS cooperation

Leaders from UMNO and PAS have pushed back against suggestions that their Barisan Nasional alliance involves calculations about partisan dominance, characterizing such claims as divisive rhetoric aimed at undermining their coalition.

The two parties reiterated that their partnership is grounded in shared objectives to consolidate Malay-Muslim interests and strengthen communal cohesion, rather than to establish which party wields greater political influence.

The remarks came in response to allegations from an opposition figure who suggested the BN-PAS understanding contained implicit power-sharing calculations. Coalition representatives rejected this characterization, describing it as an attempt to introduce discord into their working relationship.

UMNO and PAS have maintained their cooperation as a cornerstone of the Barisan Nasional framework, which has governed Malaysia for extended periods. Both parties have emphasized that their alignment reflects ideological and policy convergence on matters affecting the Malay-Muslim community.
