Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin said the party was pleased that PAS had agreed to utilise the BN symbol for the Melaka polls, signalling continued cooperation between the two parties within the broader coalition framework.
The arrangement represents a significant development in managing the complex relationship between Umno and PAS, both of which hold substantial influence within their respective political blocs. The willingness to contest under a unified symbol could streamline campaign messaging and voter appeal in the Melaka state contest.
Khaled Nordin did not indicate, however, whether Umno would extend similar invitations to other component parties of Perikatan Nasional, leaving open questions about the broader coalition's electoral strategy for the state-level contest.
The Melaka election represents a key political battleground, with both BN and PN vying to consolidate support across the state. The agreement over the BN logo reflects ongoing negotiations within the ruling coalition as it prepares for electoral challenges ahead.
