KUALA LUMPUR — Young cadres from the Umno Patriotic School (SPU) have mobilised a significant grassroots push to engage with nearly 50,000 first-time voters, party leaders said here on Friday. The initiative represents a strategic effort by Malaysia's largest political party to cultivate support among the country's younger electorate, who comprise an increasingly important voting bloc. SPU chairman Wan Rosdy expressed confidence in the programme's success, emphasising the importance of connecting with voters during their initial participation in electoral processes. The engagement drive encompasses door-to-door visits, community forums, and digital outreach, designed to explain party policies and build long-term political loyalty among new voters. Party officials characterised the campaign as part of broader efforts to strengthen Umno's grassroots infrastructure and ensure sustained relevance among Malaysia's evolving demographic. The initiative comes as political parties across the country intensify efforts to mobilise support among younger segments of the electorate.
