Youth wings of Umno and PAS have lodged a police report targeting the Attorney General, amid ongoing political tensions. The move comes as Umno Youth leadership argues that constitutional pardons granted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong must be respected.

Umno Youth Chief Dr Akmal Saleh announced that the youth divisions of both Umno and PAS have filed a police report against the Attorney General, escalating political tensions in Malaysia's legal and governance landscape.
Dr Akmal stated that while acknowledging past wrongdoings, the prerogatives granted through royal decree must be upheld. "Although mistakes may have been made, the rights conferred through the Agong's decision warrant respect," he said, in an apparent reference to pardons or clemency that may have been granted at the highest level.
The joint action by the two youth wings represents a coordinated political response, though the specific allegations contained in the police report were not immediately detailed. The development underscores deepening divisions over governance, constitutional powers, and the independence of prosecutorial authorities in Malaysia.
The Attorney General's office has not yet responded to the filing. Political analysts suggest the move reflects broader disputes among ruling coalition partners regarding judicial proceedings and executive decision-making.
