Umno Youth Urges PKR Women's Wing Not to Deflect Bumiputera Equity Issue

The Penang chapter of Umno Youth has urged the PKR Women's Wing to avoid shifting focus away from core concerns surrounding amendments to the 30% Bumiputera equity requirement in the education sector. Ameera Nadia Mohd Shafiee, chief of Puteri Umno Penang, said the government must provide transparent answers on the substantive reasons behind the policy changes. She specifically questioned why the Education Ministry and Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) have become involved in deliberations over the equity threshold. The remarks come amid ongoing debate within government circles and among political parties regarding the implementation of the Bumiputera equity policy in educational institutions and related sectors.
