UN Experts Urge Pakistan to Stop Violence Against Ahmadiyya Community
United Nations human rights experts have called on Pakistani authorities to end violence targeting the Ahmadiyya religious minority and ensure their protection. The experts also demanded that Pakistan fulfill its international human rights commitments.

A group of UN human rights specialists issued a statement from Geneva pressing Pakistan to halt ongoing violence against members of the Ahmadiyya community, a religious minority that has faced longstanding discrimination and persecution in the country.
The experts underscored the need for Pakistani authorities to take concrete steps to protect Ahmadiyyas from harm and prevent further incidents of violence. They emphasized that such protection measures are essential to safeguarding fundamental human rights and dignity.
The appeal also stressed that Pakistan must uphold its obligations under international human rights conventions and treaties to which it is a signatory. The statement reflects growing international concern over the security situation faced by the Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan.
Ahmadis, who number in the hundreds of thousands in Pakistan, have faced severe restrictions and hostility for decades. Pakistani law classifies them as non-Muslims, and they face legal restrictions on religious practices, employment discrimination, and periodic violent attacks from extremist groups.
