UN lists 214 companies linked to Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories

The United Nations has released a comprehensive list naming 214 companies whose operations are linked to Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, territories occupied since 1967 and considered illegal under international law.

According to the UN findings, the vast majority of the identified companies maintain headquarters in Israel. However, the list also includes eight US-based firms, among them prominent travel and booking platforms Airbnb and Expedia, which have drawn particular scrutiny for facilitating tourism and commerce related to settlement activities.

The UN report represents an effort to increase transparency regarding corporate involvement in settlement expansion, which the international community largely views as an obstacle to peace negotiations. Settlement construction and expansion have been a contentious issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades.

The identification of these companies comes amid ongoing international debate over corporate responsibility and the role of international businesses in occupied territories. Various countries and civil society organizations have called for greater accountability and divestment from companies operating in settlements.

Israel has long disputed UN characterizations of its settlement policies, arguing that security concerns and historical claims justify its presence in these territories. The Israeli government has not yet responded to the latest UN listing.
