Unhealthy air quality recorded in 16 areas nationwide

Sixteen areas across Malaysia have recorded unhealthy air quality as of 9am, with Sarawak and Selangor accounting for the majority of affected zones. Readings in some locations reached 166 on the Air Quality Index scale, placing them firmly in the unhealthy range. The concentration of problematic areas in these two states reflects localised pollution sources or atmospheric conditions trapping pollutants near ground level. Residents in affected areas are advised to limit outdoor activities and consider wearing protective masks, particularly vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. Environmental authorities continue to monitor air quality levels throughout the day, with updates expected as conditions potentially change with weather patterns and wind movements.
