Union Bank of India has moved to challenge the approval of an insolvency resolution plan, joining other financial institutions in contesting a decision made before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The bank had previously voted against the resolution plan during proceedings, positioning itself alongside other creditors including Canara Bank and LIC Housing Finance. These institutions had collectively opposed the plan's approval before the tribunal.
The challenge represents a significant development in the insolvency proceedings, as creditor opposition to a resolution plan can complicate the regulatory approval process. The involvement of major public sector banks and financial entities underscores the scale and complexity of the matter under adjudication.
The NCLT, which oversees corporate insolvency proceedings in India, will need to assess the merits of the challenge raised by Union Bank and other dissenting creditors. The outcome could determine the viability of the proposed resolution plan and the timeline for resolving the outstanding claims of creditors involved.
