Union Minister Suresh Gopi Manually Opens Toll Gates Amid Traffic Jam in Thrissur

Union Minister Suresh Gopi stepped in to resolve a traffic bottleneck at a toll plaza in Thrissur district on Wednesday after observing an extended queue of vehicles. According to police officials, the minister was en route from Thrissur to Ernakulam when he encountered the congestion, which had stretched for over two kilometres on both sides of the toll station.

Witnessing the gridlock, Gopi proceeded to manually operate the toll gates in an effort to expedite the movement of vehicles and clear the backlog. The incident highlighted the operational challenges faced at toll plazas during peak traffic periods, a recurring issue on Kerala's highways.

The minister's direct intervention drew attention to ongoing concerns about toll plaza management and traffic flow on major arterial routes in the state. Officials later confirmed the incident, noting that the manual operation of gates helped restore normal traffic movement through the plaza.

The Thrissur toll plaza has been a frequent flashpoint for congestion, particularly during festive seasons and weekends when traffic volumes surge significantly.
