Unity Government stable despite Najib pardon disagreement, says Zahid

ISTANBUL, Nov 8 — Zahid said the Unity Government remains intact despite apparent policy differences among coalition partners regarding the royal pardon granted to Najib, maintaining that such disagreements are normal within any multi-party administration.

The Deputy Prime Minister's remarks come as various parties have expressed differing views on the controversial pardon decision. Zahid emphasised that political differences do not necessarily translate into coalition instability, noting that the government's primary focus remains delivering policies for the nation.

As a senior Barisan Nasional figure, Zahid stressed the importance of maintaining the coalition's unity while acknowledging that individual parties retain the right to voice their own positions on specific issues. He indicated that ongoing dialogue between BN and Pakatan Harapan leadership continues to ensure the government functions effectively.

The Unity Government, formed after the 2022 general election, comprises both BN and Pakatan Harapan components alongside several other political parties. Zahid's comments suggest coalition leaders are committed to managing internal disagreements constructively to preserve the administration's stability and functioning.
