University of Kelaniya student killed in Waskaduwa motorcycle accident
A undergraduate student from the University of Kelaniya lost his life in a road accident in the Waskaduwa area of Kalutara on Monday morning. The incident occurred while the student was travelling with five companions on motorcycles during an excursion towards Galle.

The fatal accident took place in the Waskaduwa locality of Kalutara district on the morning of October 08, claiming the life of the young scholar who was part of a group of six riders. According to preliminary reports, the student's motorcycle veered off the roadway and fell towards the right side of the thoroughfare, resulting in injuries that proved fatal.
The group had departed from Colombo on motorcycles and was en route to Galle for an excursion when the accident occurred. The circumstances that led to the motorcycle losing control remain under investigation by local authorities.
The incident adds to the mounting toll of road fatalities among young people in the island nation. Traffic authorities have yet to release further details regarding the exact cause of the accident or whether factors such as speed, road conditions, or mechanical failure contributed to the tragedy.
Family members and the University of Kelaniya community have been notified of the student's death. The Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
