UOB lifts Vietnam 2026 growth forecast to 9.2% on economic momentum

United Overseas Bank has raised its gross domestic product growth forecast for Vietnam in 2026 to 9.2%, reflecting confidence in the Southeast Asian nation's continued economic expansion. The bank simultaneously lifted its 2027 growth projection to 8.8% from an earlier estimate of 8.4%, signaling expectations for sustained momentum in the medium term.

The upgraded forecasts align with Vietnam's demonstrated resilience, as the country expanded at 9.95% in the third quarter of this year. The strong performance reflects a broadening economic base, with multiple sectors contributing to growth rather than reliance on a single driver.

The revised projections come amid similar optimism from other major financial institutions tracking Vietnam's economy. Standard Chartered has also upgraded its 2026 growth forecast for the country to 9.5%, indicating broad agreement among analysts about Vietnam's economic trajectory. The convergence of forecasts suggests underlying structural improvements in the economy.

Analysts point to emerging growth drivers taking shape across manufacturing, technology, and services sectors as key factors supporting the positive outlook. The diversification of income sources provides a more stable foundation for sustained expansion through 2027 and beyond.
