UP Police Bust Exam Fraud Gang Operating Through Disabled Certificate Scam

Police in Uttar Pradesh have dismantled a sophisticated examination fraud network operating in the Sachendi police station area of Kanpur. The four arrested individuals were caught red-handed at an examination centre, bringing to light a scheme that exploited disability provisions to facilitate large-scale cheating in online tests.

According to investigators, the organised gang employed a methodical approach to evade detection. Members would obtain fraudulent disability certificates and subsequently position exam solvers as official assistants for candidates taking tests. By leveraging provisions meant for persons with disabilities, the group managed to place their operatives directly at examination centres where they could provide answers to paying candidates.

The scheme generated substantial illicit income, with gang members charging candidates amounts in the lakhs of rupees per examination. The operation is believed to have affected multiple competitive examinations conducted online across the region. Police have seized relevant documents and devices from the accused during the investigation.

The Special Task Force has launched a broader probe to identify other members of the network and determine the full scale of the fraud. Authorities are also reviewing examination centre protocols and disability verification procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The arrested individuals face charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating and forgery.
