UP's first Vande Bharat sleeper train begins operations between Varanasi and Delhi

Uttar Pradesh has commenced operations of its first Vande Bharat sleeper train on the Varanasi-Delhi corridor, marking an expansion of premium rail connectivity in the state. The service was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The overnight train covers the distance between the two cities in approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes, departing in the evening and arriving at its destination the following morning. The service aims to provide enhanced comfort and reduced travel time compared to conventional overnight trains on this route.

The Vande Bharat sleeper variant represents an upgraded iteration of India's domestically-manufactured semi-high-speed train platform, featuring improved amenities and sleeping accommodations for long-distance night travel. The introduction of this service extends the Vande Bharat fleet's reach beyond day-service operations to overnight segments.

Fares and detailed specifications for the new service were announced alongside the launch, though specific tariff details remain subject to review. The service is expected to cater to business and leisure travelers seeking premium overnight connectivity between the two major cities.
