The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026, paving the way for qualified candidates to advance to the interview stage of India's most competitive recruitment process.

The Civil Services examination, one of the country's most rigorous competitive assessments, is conducted in three distinct phases: the preliminary examination, the main examination, and the final interview round. This three-tier structure is designed to identify and select the most capable candidates for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and various other central government services.

Candidates who have cleared the main examination will now undergo the personality test and interview component, where they will be assessed by experienced panels on their aptitude, communication skills, and suitability for administrative positions. The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance of candidates in both the main examination and the interview.

The UPSC conducts the civil services examination annually to fulfill recruitment requirements across multiple central government departments and autonomous organizations. The examination attracts lakhs of aspirants from across India each year, seeking to secure positions in India's premier civil services.
