The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of the Civil Services Mains examination held in 2026, marking a significant milestone for thousands of aspirants across India. According to the official announcement, a total of 2,526 candidates have successfully qualified the examination and will advance to the next phase of the selection process.
The Civil Services examination is one of India's most competitive recruitment tests, attracting hundreds of thousands of candidates annually. The Mains examination serves as a critical filtering stage, assessing candidates' depth of knowledge across diverse subjects including history, geography, economics, science, and contemporary affairs.
Those who have cleared the Mains round will now face the personality test, commonly known as the interview round, which forms the final stage of the selection process. The interview evaluates candidates on their communication skills, analytical ability, and suitability for civil service positions.
The UPSC conducts the Civil Services examination in three stages: the Preliminary examination, the Mains examination, and the Interview. Success in this examination leads to various prestigious positions including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others.
Candidates can access the complete list of qualified applicants on the UPSC's official website. The commission will shortly announce the date and schedule for the personality test round.
